So Much To Blog About! (Part 1)

I just had the busiest 4 days of my life since my wedding weekend. It was a non-stop, little sleep, working like a dog weekend. But it was so worth it. I had the best time celebrating so many big life moments. Most of my weekend was documented in photos, so I’m going to try to post as much as possible (and probably send you to my photoblog a couple of times).

Friday was spent at Evangel University’s graduation. Congrats to my baby brother, Andrew, who graduated from college! He makes Anthony & I look so small in this picture!

After graduation lunch, Anthony & Cynthia & I headed out to do an engagement shoot. The images aren’t completely ready yet, but here’s one sneak peak. I’ll post another link later.

On Saturday, we hosted a bridal shower for Cynthia. All the planning and hard work paid off - it turned out beautifully. Lyndsey, Becca & Cheri were amazing! They helped my mom and I pull it all together. I am lucky to have such great friends who go the extra mile for me and my family. You can see more images of the shower here.

Later that day, I shot a few images for my dad. He needed a picture for a magazine article, so I was happy to oblige. You can see a few more pics of ‘ol Tommy here.

I have more to come from my trip: Mother’s Day, Anthony & Cynthia, and Carrie’s Olivia. PLUS all the things that happened in Alabama while I was gone, Katie had a baby girl and Sonya found out she is having a boy! Seriously - this weekend was crazy! :)

I’m a few days late on posting Design*Sponge’s new desktop artwork, but I have been very busy…and I totally forgot about it. Haha. I just skimmed through the last few days of entries on the blog to find their April calendar (by Karen Combs). I really like it - its super bright & cheery. Yay for Spring!

Frank Lloyd Wright + Epiphanie!

As part of my pursuit to win the Epiphanie contest, I am to submit an Epiphanie card. I chose to use an image from my recent trip to Seaside and pair it with a quote from Frank Lloyd Wright. The image seems so organic and light and Mr. Wright is definitely one of my favorites. As an American architect and interior designer, he is still bringing inspiration to so much design, even if he has been gone for some time. A true legacy, I’d say.

Here’s my Epiphanie card:

And the Best Dressed Oscar goes to….

Elizabeth Banks.

In my VERY humble fashion opinion, I think Elizabeth Banks rocked the Oscars with her awesome dress. I LOVE the color, the fit and lines of the top and and the flirtatiousness of the skirt. It was fun and modern, but still very classy.  Can you tell I’ve been watching too much Project Runway?

I was so glad to see Sandra Bullock pulled off the Oscar. I love her (you know from the I don’t-really-know-but-love-her-in-movies kind of way).

Inspiration Boards

A lot of wedding/baby shower/event planning blogs suggest making story boards that contain inspirational images for your event. I started collecting pictures for my brother’s fiancé’s bridal shower and thought I’d compile an inspiration board myself. Its helping me nail down what I actually want the shower to feel like.

Happy March!

It’s March, YAY! Usually for the Gulf Coast, March means we are in Spring. The first two days have not really proven to be sticking to that, but I’m not turning pessimistic quite yet. This month is full and I have a lot to look forward to starting with hubby’s 29th birthday (tomorrow!). All my weekends are booked with either photo shoots, out-of-town company (double yay!!!!) or work events. I’m ready to get it started. I heart Spring in South Alabama. It brings back such good memories from the early days of “Nik & me.” And…the beach is at arm’s length. :)

Here’s Design Sponge’s March Desktop Wallpaper. Click here to download it for yourself.

All Things Pretty

I’m beginning to plan Cynthia’s (my brother’s fiance) bridal shower shower that will be held in Springfield in May. Oh, I just wish I had all the time and money in the world because I think I could do some absolutely fabulous things, stealing ideas from here, and here, and there, of course.

I have an idea of how I want the shower to feel - words that come to mind are light, airy, pretty, flowering, vintage…. This is quite different from my own wedding which I would describe as classy, elegant and BLACK. But, I am really feeling a much lighter spring time theme and am excited about how it will turn out. Plus, I am armed with my fabulous go-getter mom and the talented Becca. :)

Last night I started browsing invitations to see if I could start nailing down the main theme. Here are a few that I love, we’ll see if I end up using any of them. The first three are from Paper Source and are fill-in/printable invitations. The last four are from Wedding Paper Divas.
