Hanging in the Rain
May/100

After spending Friday night grilling out with friends, and Saturday, second-shooting at a wedding, we ended our weekend outside in the rain. Sunday was supposed to be a great day - Roman Street was scheduled to perform on one of the four stages at the 3-day Hangout Music Fest in Gulf Shores. It was the largest music festival ever to be held right on the beach. I had planned my outfit for a perfect suntan - little did I know, I would be hunting down a warm hoodie to buy and a place to seek shelter for about 7 hours. The rain (along with tornado & other storm warnings) delayed the whole event and caused for our stage to be postponed indefinitely. The Festival made the most of it, though, as it opened its doors for free to let all those that would brave the barely-clear weather to see the final acts, like Ray LaMontagne and Ben Harper. We made the best of it, too, enjoying the company of our friends and keeping each other warm (which I certainly didn’t mind. Haha!).
We have a full week ahead of us - high school graduations and Nissi & Brian’s big day. Its a good week for celebrations!
Chill Music
Apr/100
I’ve seriously been trying to write this post for hours! I have a big music event this weekend and have been a little swamped at work - I’m very popular today…but I really don’t want to be. Phone calls, emails, people coming in my office. Its been a non-stop day so far.
So, to help myself chill out, I’m turning to one of my most favorite bands, Hammock. Nik introduced me to Hammock a few years back. Its soooo calming. I bet when we have kids, we will play this music to help them fall asleep. Its that good.
Click on the image below to watch/listen to a new song from Hammock’s latest album “Chasing After Shadows…Living With the Ghosts.”
Weekend With The Boys
Apr/100
I had a great weekend - my brother, Andrew, and his friends were here Thursday - Saturday to hang out and spend some time at the beach. Roman Street played the Fairhope Art Walk on Friday. I laid out at the beach and had a bridal shoot with Nissi on Saturday. Enjoyed a great Easter dinner with Nik’s family on Sunday. AND a killer nap on Sunday afternoon.
Here are a few pics from Friday night - we took Andrew’s friend, Aric, out for his birthday after Roman Street played. I would like to post an image of Nissi’s bridal, but in the spirit of tradition, I’ll wait until her soon-to-be husband has seen her before I show the rest of the world. Maybe I’ll post one later that won’t give anything away.
Update: see a sneak peak of my bridal session here.

A Full Weekend
Mar/100
What a great weekend. Almost perfect weather, great friends in town, Fairhope Arts & Crafts Festival and lots of Roman Street music. It was so great to have Cheri & Christy in town - we shopped, went to the beach, ate (a lot), watched movies, relaxed, laughed, talked & talked & talked…perfection.
Roman Street played a ton this weekend. We made it to their Sunday concert at the Arts & Crafts Festival (pictures here). For those who might be interested in hearing Roman Street’s music in which they are “dabbling in the arts of “new” flamenco, smooth and not-so-smooth jazz, and its own brand of fusion style music,” you should check out their newly posted video.
Stay With Me
Mar/101

Nothing that could separate You from me.
This whole world could fall to pieces, but You will stay with me.
I worship You, my Love, my Everything.
Words from Stay With Me by Nik.
This morning, I woke up late, couldn’t find my shoes or my shirt, broke a nail, spilled granola, and got in my car to realize I didn’t have any gas. I wasn’t so sure today could be successful after that. But, as I was pumping gas this morning, I stood in the warm air, sporting my flip-flops and a summer skirt and had an overwhelming sense of peace. My Lord will stay with me. Through the chaos, excitement, disappointment, hardship, happiness, joy, sadness…through everything He will be there. I started my morning out listening to the song that Nik & I recorded in Nashville last fall. I know it sounds silly to say that I listen to Nik & I sing, but there is something really sacred about listening to my husband and I, together, singing God’s promises. Knowing that He is a God that takes care of all the pieces, and if we stay true to Him, we will not be separated from His love.

Sunday in Seaside
Feb/100
I love the whole area in between Destin and Panama City Beach, FL. There is a highway called 30A (that you have probably have seen pictures of already on this blog or my website) that has the best little towns like Rosemary Beach, Watercolor, Seagrove and my most favorite: Seaside. Its just a little piece of heaven. Seriously. Roman Street had a concert there yesterday, so Nik and I headed out after church and stayed the night with all our Roman Street friends. I hung out in the courtyard area snapping photos while we all waited for the concert to start. I could really care less for Valentine’s Day, but I guess it was a pretty good way to spend it. We stayed at our favorite house, Sail On Inn and got a great night’s sleep in the super comfy bed. They have the best beds there. I caught Nik taking a picture with his phone of the brand name of the mattress. Haha. I am working today, but have tomorrow off for Mardi Gras. Yes, when you leave where I live, you don’t get President’s Day off, you get Mardi Gras day off.

The Next John Legend

I have a new favorite artist and his voice is sooo smooth. Our friend Warren Whitten is producing music by Frank Hood in Nashville. I just got a chance to check out his new single that was released on iTunes and I’m loving it. Warren works at a recording studio and is starting a label called Collective. He is also the one that helps Nik produce his side music projects. Nik is working on the Collective website right now, and I’ll be sure to post it when its all put together.

The week from….
Jan/100
Fill in the blank. Hahahaha.
Ok, it hasn’t been that bad. Its been a long week and busy and a little emotional. BUT there were some definite good moments. On Monday, I did a senior shoot with a beautiful and fun girl, Loren. We had perfect weather and did the shoot in Fairhope, so I was kinda feeling “vacation-y.” Our computer died on us last week and we just got it back today, so I was so excited to get to work on Loren’s pictures this morning and finished almost all my editing. You should check her out. She’s gorgeous. What a fun time of life - almost graduating, the world at your feet….

Last night, Roman Street played a great concert at the Saenger Theatre. The headlining band, Jesse Cook, was incredible. It was so good. Music for the soul kind of thing. Roman Street was pretty stoked because Jesse is kind of one of their idols. It was a great night, but we got home pretty late, and as the afternoon creeps in, I’m about to zonk out at my desk. Maybe I can go home early from work today….wonder if they’ll notice?

I hope everyone has a beautiful weekend!
Roman Street Opening for Jesse Cook
Jan/100
Tomorrow night, Roman Street will open for Jesse Cook at the Saenger Theatre. This is a dream come true for these guys as Jesse has been a huge influence on their music. It should be a great night! If you are in the area, you should come! (Student-priced tickets are available - Nissi!). Check out the New Article about the show.

Roman Street at the Saenger
Oct/090
Thursday night proved to be a great night - Roman Street opened up for Tonic Strings and the New Orleans Preservation Band (who, BTW, had the most killer t-shirts). I love when people ask for the band’s autographs - its just cracks me up. We hit a whole new level on Thursday night, when Laura Vendetti of Laura Venditti Salon brought a brand new acoustic guitar for the band to sign. Now this was actually pretty cool, so I grabbed a few quick pics. You can find a review of the night HERE.

I love this picture of Kelley, even though she will probably kill me for posting it.

We are such good groupies
I look so tired…it was a really long day.
