Weekend With The Boys

I had a great weekend - my brother, Andrew, and his friends were here Thursday - Saturday to hang out and spend some time at the beach. Roman Street played the Fairhope Art Walk on Friday. I laid out at the beach and had a bridal shoot with Nissi on Saturday. Enjoyed a great Easter dinner with Nik’s family on Sunday. AND a killer nap on Sunday afternoon.

Here are a few pics from Friday night - we took Andrew’s friend, Aric, out for his birthday after Roman Street played. I would like to post an image of Nissi’s bridal, but in the spirit of tradition, I’ll wait until her soon-to-be husband has seen her before I show the rest of the world. Maybe I’ll post one later that won’t give anything away.

Update: see a sneak peak of my bridal session here.

…could be like yesterday, I would be in heaven. :)

Yesterday was a great day. It was a never-ending work day, but once I slipped out a little early, it was just the greatest day. I met Nik over at Page & Palette for my new fav, Iced Mango Tea, as we waited for the McCrary Fam. They are in town this week visiting Mike’s family and we had a photo shoot scheduled. Nik came along to hang out with Mike and we all enjoyed the beautiful Fairhope weather and scenery for a couple of hours before grabbing yummy Master Joe’s for dinner (Thanks, Mike & Dais!). THEN I got home and my NEW CAMERA was there!!!! YAY!!!!! I was so excited. Hopefully, I’ll have some time tomorrow to play around with it more and am going to try it out on my senior session scheduled for Friday.

Here’s a pic of Nik & Chloe chilling during the photo session last night. Don’t let that sweet face fool you (haha)…. on either of their faces :)

Paint Samples

paint-samples

Nik and I have wanted to paint every room in house since we moved in. We have lived there 10  months, and so far have only accomplished painting the dining room. It’s okay though, because the walls aren’t ugly. They are just very beige and match our beige carpet, our beige tile and our beige ceiling. So its a little like living in an oatmeal box. But its new and clean, so no complaints. The biggest reason for the delay in painting the living room is two fold: once we paint the living room, we have to do the kitchen and the hallway because it is all open and connected (so it will be a big job) and we just can’t seem to decide on the color that we want. We have painted sample upon sample on to various parts of the wall. The last set of samples lasted 2 months on the wall…until one day I just couldn’t take it anymore, and painted it back to beige.

Nik & I don’t usually seem to agree on paint colors, for some reason. This is odd to me, and never occurred to me that PAINT might challenge our compromising (or very stubborn) perspectives. Last night, I wanted to go to Lowes to look at paint to paint our dining room table (which is old and a really awesome hunter green color…not). Nik decides its time to do the living room. So, we go. And we do it again. For maybe the 10th time. We stand in front of the plethora of paint chip  samples. We pull some, we discuss. Some are keepers, others get put back.

We arrive back home and start holding the cards up to the wall. We thin out the pile again (like the many other times before). We decide on two that we like. I ask Nik what the names are - he tells me. I feel like the names sound familiar. So I go to the laundry room to look at the sample paint cans that we had gotten back in January. Low and behold, the two that we chose are sitting on the dryer. They were the samples that sat on our wall for months and had just been painted over because we decided we didn’t like them.  So, either we are extremely productive in deciding that we actually do like those colors - or we are back at square one. I’m still deciding.

Stay With Me

Nothing that could separate You from me.

This whole world could fall to pieces, but You will stay with me.

I worship You, my Love, my Everything.

Words from Stay With Me by Nik.

This morning, I woke up late, couldn’t find my shoes or my shirt, broke a nail, spilled granola, and got in my car to realize I didn’t have any gas. I wasn’t so sure today could be successful after that. But, as I was pumping gas this morning, I stood in the warm air, sporting my flip-flops and a summer skirt and had an overwhelming sense of peace. My Lord will stay with me. Through the chaos, excitement, disappointment, hardship, happiness, joy, sadness…through everything He will be there. I started my morning out listening to the song that Nik & I recorded in Nashville last fall. I know it sounds silly to say that I listen to Nik & I sing, but there is something really sacred about listening to my husband and I, together, singing God’s promises. Knowing that He is a God that takes care of all the pieces, and if we stay true to Him, we will not be separated from His love.

It was a beautiful weekend here on the Gulf Coast. Its definitely warming up and I’m so excited for consistent good weather (sorry to rub it in, Springfield). We had a great time celebrating Nik’s birthday on Friday night and spent Saturday hanging out and shopping in downtown Fairhope. The countdown begins for Cheri & Christy’s visit! Less than 2 weeks!!

New Mattress & Pillows = the best day ever!

Is it sad that the most exciting thing about your day is picking out a new mattress & pillows?? Yesterday, Nik and I bought a new mattress (LONG overdue). Its being delivered today and I can’t wait to sleep on a bed where we don’t sink into the middle! Although, I really, really, really want a Tempur-Pedic bed (why are they soooo expensive??), we settled for another really great mattress. We did however, splurge on Tempur-Pedic pillows! Its really different sleeping on one (as I found out last night), but I believe that it will help my neck and relieve some of my back pain. PLUS, the pillow makes it impossible to sleep on your stomach, so I think I will be able to finally kick that bad habit. I can’t wait to go home and go to bed tonight!! :)

Its Nik’s birthday today! We started out with a nice dinner last night at Tamara’s downtown Fairhope (since we have church tonight) and a wonderful breakfast from East Shore Cafe bright and early this morning. Yum. Other celebrations ahead include Red Velvet Cake from Something Sweet and The Bull in downtown Mobile. I think I like food too much…. :)

Happy Birthday, Nik! You are my greatest friend. Love, love, love!

Happy March!

It’s March, YAY! Usually for the Gulf Coast, March means we are in Spring. The first two days have not really proven to be sticking to that, but I’m not turning pessimistic quite yet. This month is full and I have a lot to look forward to starting with hubby’s 29th birthday (tomorrow!). All my weekends are booked with either photo shoots, out-of-town company (double yay!!!!) or work events. I’m ready to get it started. I heart Spring in South Alabama. It brings back such good memories from the early days of “Nik & me.” And…the beach is at arm’s length. :)

Here’s Design Sponge’s March Desktop Wallpaper. Click here to download it for yourself.

Hero Sized Dreams

Lately, Nik and I have been getting into the television show Heroes. We discovered it on our instant Netflix, so we can stream it right to our TV through our XBOX. Over the last few weeks we’ve watched Season 1, 2, and are the middle of 3. Its actually quite good. Some of it gets a little cheesy here and there, but for the most part they’ve sucked me right in. I would attribute most of this to the fact that we can keep watching the episodes one after another. And I do love that Hayden Panettiere. Since its the only show that we have watched in the last three weeks, its starting to seep deep inside of my head. People on the streets now bare a resemblance to the show’s characters. I swear I saw Sylar at the Roman Street concert on Sunday.  The worst part is that I am now having dreams about the show. I’ve probably had a Heroes dream every night for the last 4 nights. Sometimes its just a part of the show repeating itself in my dreams, but sometimes, I even have powers! My powers usually switch from one to the other - as far as I can remember, I have flown and thrown some electricity people’s way. I don’t think I’ve killed anyone yet. Haha. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, you can check out the details of the show, otherwise you are going to think I’m completely crazy!
